I loved drawing this Cassowary, the colours are absolutely magnificent, up close they are a true living dinosaur!  Cassowaries feed mainly on fruit. Cassowaries are native to the tropical forests of New Guinea, East Nusa Tenggara, the Maluku islands and Northeastern Australia. Of three species of cassowaries in the world, only the southern cassowary,  is found in Australia.  Like their cousins the emus, these large, flightless birds with bristly feathers are ratites. Cassowaries are very wary of humans, but if provoked they are capable of inflicting serious harm.  The cassowary has often been labeled "the world's most dangerous bird".
